In Honor of Thomas A. Sheldon, MD's Retirement

In 2023, the 20th anniversary of the Payson Center for Cancer Care was celebrated. So too was Dr. Thomas Sheldon, whose contributions and commitment to providing cancer care to patients in our community is widely renown. 

Dr. Sheldon has been with Radiation Oncology Associates for over 30 years, and recently stepped down as Medical Director in preparation for his retirement in June 2024. 

Throughout a distinguished career spanning almost 40 years, Dr. Sheldon has treated 10,000 patients - 4,000 of which were during his tenure at Payson Center for Cancer Center. 

When asked what has been the most rewarding part of his career Dr. Sheldon shared that he truly loves working with patients and his colleagues. “The Payson Center has an incredible team. It’s truly a collective effort between the nurses, therapists, dietary aides, social workers, physics and dosimetry and front office staff that I am very proud to be a part of. The quality of care and patient satisfaction is extraordinarily high because we are dedicated and passionate about our work. We are a community cancer center and carry a great deal of pride in providing personalized treatment to our neighbors, so they don’t have to travel far from their home to receive treatment.”
